Day trip to Key Largo with your Dog

Key Largo is known for its beautiful beaches. It is self-proclaimed the Dive Capital of the World. You also don’t want to miss out on snorkeling because its home to the world’s largest artificial reef. I recently took a day trip to Islamorada/Key Largo, and I wanted the trip to be pet-friendly so that I could take Teddy. We had our Instagram friend give us some recommendations. Check out our friend Pancake’s page. http://www.instagram.com/it_is_a_pancake_life

We had lunch at Robbie’s. Right away, when you arrive, you already feel like you are on vacation. The restaurant is right on the water, so it has fabulous views and gives off the island vibe from the music playing and the tropical drinks. It has been voted number 1 place in the Keys that every tourist should visit, and I happen to agree. At this cool restaurant, you can hand-feed massive tarpon, try some water sports, find some fun souvenirs or soak up the island breeze. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a great meal. The menu has something for everyone and had great seafood options, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. The restaurant offers a full bar.

Our next stop was Theater of the Seas. Now I really couldn’t believe they allowed dogs here, but they do. You can’t see the parrot show, but they allowed Teddy to watch because he was well behaved. We sat close to the exit, but Teddy nor the parrots seemed to mind meeting each other. I love that this is a family-owned business since 1946 and is one of the oldest marine mammal facilities. They have a fantastic show schedule that you can go from one show to another. It was very entertaining, and you can tell they loved these animals. You can see dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, fish, sharks, stingrays, alligators, and birds. Not only can you walk around at your leisure and see shows but you can also relax and swim in their private lagoon-side beach so don’t forget your swimsuit. You can also upgrade your ticket and interact with a dolphin or sea lion or swim with the sharks. They have something for everyone here.

Well, that was a full day for us with the drive back and forth and the two stops. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed trying out two new places. If you want to stay longer and want more recommendations, I would suggest checking out this website. https://www.visitflorida.com/en-us/cities/key-largo.html

Also if you want to snorkel you have to check out John Pennekamp http://pennekamppark.com or if you are into boating renting a boat is a great option as well. https://www.sanddollarboatrentals.com/key-largo/

If you stay overnight, check out my pet-friendly hotels’ post that I listed options in Key Largo & Key West. https://www.livingafairytail.com/hotels-that-are-pet-friendly/
