Pet-Friendly Vacation to Orlando, FL

You might think of Orlando as just a place to go for amusement parks, but Orlando has so much more to offer, and it is dog-friendly too. You can’t go wrong by visiting Orlando for its warm Florida weather and all the outdoor things to do. This guide will provide you with places to stay, pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating, and things to do.

HOTELS

Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal – the nice thing about this hotel is that it’s a great location if you want to go to Universal Studios. The rooms are huge, and they offer an onsite dog park. The pet fee is a non-refundable fee of $100 per stay. They allow two pets per room and weigh under 65 pounds. Address: 5916 Caravan Ct. Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress – you might not want to leave the hotel because they have so much to do from their beautiful pool with a waterslide and grato, scenic nature trail that is perfect to walk your dog, restaurants, gym, watersports, and much more. When you check in you can request to use one of their dog bowls. Pet-fee is $150 per stay up to 6 nights. Weight limit 1 dog 50 pounds or lighter 2 dogs 75 pounds or lighter. Lake Nona Wave Hotel – I love that they offer high-tech guest rooms and 18 artistic suites. There is a colorful pool deck and cabanas, a large lobby with 2 bars and restaurants on the property. This property is also close to Boxi Park. The pet fee is $150 per stay, and they do not have a weight limit for the dog. Address: 6100 Wave Hotel Drive. http://www.lakenonawavehotel.com

Loews Hotels – Everyone knows that Teddy & I are big Loews fans, and there are several Loews properties in Orlando. I suggest you look at the website to see which one you like best. https://www.loewshotels.com/destinations

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World – I love hotels that offer many amenities that you don’t even have to leave the property. This hotel is luxury at its finest. You can enjoy 26 acres of gardens, pools, golf, spa, and restaurants. Don’t forget about their rooftop steakhouse, where you can see the Disney fireworks. They don’t have a pet fee, but they have a policy of one dog up to 25 pounds only. You can request to use their dog beds and bowls. Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek – You can’t go wrong by staying here. They offer 5 pools, a mini-golf course, two lazy rivers, and a spa. RESTAURANTS

Canvas Restaurant – offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. This restaurant is so pet-friendly that they even bring out a doggy treat and water bowl. They have a great screened-in patio and outdoor patio available for seating with your dog. This is also where you can find the stained glasshouse that you can find pictures of it on Instagram. Tom Fruin created it. Fruin is a Brooklyn-based artist, and his kaleidoscope houses can be found in unsuspecting places all over the world. Foxtail Coffee Co. – You can find several locations throughout Orlando, but I have enjoyed going to the one near Boxi Park. You can grab a coffee, tea, or a bakery item. They will provide you with a complimentary puppuccino for your pup. http://www.foxtailcoffee.com

The Wellborn – Is a hidden oasis with a beautiful lush courtyard for outdoor dining. It is an excellent spot for dinner or weekend brunch. They have a Dj over the weekend playing music. http://www.thewellbornorlando.com

Baldwin Perk – Any tv show fans of Friends? You will find a replica of the Friends couch at this restaurant with fun pillows. They offer coffees, teas, salads, flatbreads, crepes, desserts, and all-day breakfast. They have outdoor seating, but I have seen some dogs sitting inside. http://www.mybaldwinperk.com

Grape & The Grain Wine Bar – You can enjoy craft beer, wines, and cheese & charcuterie boards. They host food trucks in the garden on Fridays & Saturday nights and live entertainment. It is a great location to hang out with friends in a laid-back atmosphere. http://www.grapeandthegrain.com

World of Beer – is a perfect spot if you would love to try beers from around the world. You can hang out and watch a game on their TVs and enjoy a bite to eat. This restaurant is so pet-friendly that they even advertise it on their website and social media pages. You can find two locations in Orlando. http://www.worldofbeer

Rock & Brews Restaurant – This is the perfect place for you if you enjoy dining with your pup because they offer a doggy menu that has a beef, chicken, and bacon option. All three Orlando locations offer outdoor dining and a dog menu. http://www.rockandbrews.com

Boxi Park Lake Nona – It is a great outdoor space with food truck-style eateries, live music, a volleyball court, and plenty of gathering spaces to enjoy. http://www.boxparklakenona.com

Relax Grill in Lake Eola – Offers a Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner perfect place to go if you are planning on checking out the park. http://www.relaxgrill.com

Wop’s Hops Brewing Company – Great place if you want to eat a burger, sandwich and enjoy a beer. They also cater to dogs with a dog menu that offers options like Boneless Chicken, Meatballs, Dog Chews, and Doggy Beer. http://www.wopshopsbrewing.com

Seito Sushi & A New Japanese – offers award-winning sushi and Japanese cuisine. They offer a covered patio area to dine with your pet. http://www.seitosushibp.com

OSPHERE Grill & Bar – is a neighborhood restaurant that focuses on fresh and local. They make everything in-house, and they locally source when available. http://www.ospheregrillbar.com

Orlando Milkhouse – Enjoy drinks, food and live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. http://www.milkhousesocial.com

Pig Floyd’s Urban BBQ – If you enjoy smoked meat & cold beer this is the place for you. They have outdoor seating so you can take your dog. http://www.pigfloyds.com

Maxine’s On Shine – known to be your neighborhood restaurant. They offer brunch and dinner options and also offer live entertainment. Check the website for their schedule. http://www.maxineonshine.com

THINGS TO DO

Wall Crawl – Enjoy taking photos in colorful spaces? If the answer is yes you need to check out this location for fun selfies. They only allow 15 people and 8 dogs in the studio so make sure you make a reservation. Cost $27.50 ages 13+ with a dog. http://www.wallcrawl.com

Lake Eola Park – is in the heart of Downtown Orlando. It is a beautiful place to see outdoor art sculptures, walk or jog around the park, enjoy seeing the swans, or ride on a Swan paddle boat. The Swan boats are pet-friendly but check when they are open because currently they are making a larger dock and the boats are not available. I did mention in the restaurant section that there is a restaurant that you can enjoy as well. On Sundays, they offer a Farmer’s Market. 

BOK Tower Gardens – Dog admission is $5.00. You can enjoy a stroll with your leashed dog. Dogs are not permitted inside of Hammock Hollow, El Retiro, the Blue Palmetto Cafe or the The shop at Bok. Your dog can enjoy the nature trails and the gardens. http://www.boktowergardens.org

Park Avenue – enjoy some shopping in the Winter Park area. Most shops allow your leashed dogs inside the stores. Most restaurants also offer patio seating. http://www.winterpark.org/park-avenue

Showcase of Citrus – You will find more than 50 varieties of U-pick fruit. This is a perfect place to take the family to enjoy a petting zoo, playground, weekend circus show and much more. Check out the website for more information: http://www.showcaseofcitrus.com

Buena Vista Watersports – Does your dog love the water? Take them to this location to enjoy the beach and paddlesports. http://www.bvwatersports.com

Barr Street Trail Head – You can enjoy seeing wildlife while walking the trail along the Econ River. It is a 5.2 mile loop. Admission is $2 per car. Address: 951 Barr Street Little Big Econ State Forest, Oviedo.

ICON Park – Is an entertainment complex that features games, restaurants, bars, shops, amusement rides and The Wheel. http://www.iconparkorlando.com

PUPS PUB – It is a an off-leash pup bar. It is fun for your dog and yourself because they offer the adults a full liquor bar and a place for you to watch the game while your dog gets to run around and have fun with other dogs. Address: 317 N Orange Ave. http://www.pupspubco.com

Lastly, schedule a playdate if you have friends in the town you are visiting. Teddy loved seeing his friends Ruby & Madison.
