Vacation with your Dog

Who loves PTO time? I know I do, and it is even better when that vacation includes my dog, Teddy. But let’s be honest, you won’t see me unless you see my dog, Teddy, too. I am that Crazy Dog Mom who doesn’t want to be without her best friend, so if Teddy is not invited, you won’t see me either. Therefore, I am always looking for pet-friendly properties that allow Teddy to tag along.

I recently stayed at InterContinental Miami. They started their Pets & Points package again, and I am sure glad they did. How it works is to book their Pets & Points package and receive 3,000 IHG bonus points, $10 off their nightly pet fee, plus a whole bunch of treats for your four-legged friend. Stay thru September 15 to receive this promotion.

There are so many things I love about this property, but the number one thing is how friendly their staff is. They absolutely loved Teddy, and Teddy loved them right back. Teddy loved all the attention and cuddles he received from the team. They are super accommodating, and I know they feel like your pets are family by how they treated him. For any dogs on raw diets like Teddy, I will warn you they do not have freezers in the room, so I would contact the hotel before to see if they will make an exception and add it to one of their freezers on property. I had no issues with Teddy’s food since they did find a freezer to put it in, but I would call ahead to double-check.

You will find a large plush dog bed and a water & food bowl you can use during your stay in the room. I found the bowls to be super helpful because it’s less stuff to pack. Teddy enjoys a dog bed to lounge around, but who are we kidding he sleeps in bed with me.

This property has 653 beautiful guest rooms, including 22 stylish suites. The views are absolutely spectacular. You can see the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay, and the Port of Miami. Your pup can makes lots of friends because this property is right by a dog park & a walking path steps from the hotel entrance. We took many walks while we were there because the views were so great and Teddy loved interacting with all the local pups that were just taking their daily walks.

If activities are what you are seeking, they have a concierge that can assist you with that. This hotel is in a perfect location because you are close by so many great attractions, restaurants, shopping, and the beach. You are within walking distance to Bayside, which has shops, restaurants, and party boats & boat tours. When you walk outside, there are so many places on the street you can rent electric bikes or battery-operated scooters. You are also a quick car ride to Wynwood to walk around and see all the colorful street art. If you are looking to check out our local museums, you can visit the Perez Art Museum, Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science, or if you have the kids with you, the Miami Children’s Museum is a great option. If you are into theater you can go to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.

If you prefer not to leave the hotel, that is also a perfect option. The hotel has 3 restaurants & Starbucks. Ole offers a one-of-a-kind buffet breakfast with a made-to-order egg station. Bluewater is on the rooftop where you can find their pool, and they are open from Noon until 6:30 PM. Toro Toro Miami is a modern steakhouse with a Latin flair. They offer lunch & dinner but keep in mind at this time they are not open on Mondays. You can make a reservation using the OpenTable app. Here is hoping they will be part of Miami Spice this year that runs from August 1 – September 30. https://www.torotoromiami.com

Going back to things to do at the hotel, they have a beautiful, comfortable lobby, you can work out at their gym, or if you prefer to relax, you can head to the pool or to their spa to get pampered. Also, just enjoying your room and seeing the views from your window and watching tv is also a great idea if you just want to relax.

Just between you & I…This winter, I have been told that they will be rolling out a Paw-Some Happy Hour, and the dogs are obviously invited. Once I get more details, I will make sure I update this post and talk about it on my Instagram Page http://www.instagram.com/tourwithteddy
